Tom's Golden Mile Challenge

After last years huge success of our walk we have decided to make this an annual event.

Around 18 women will be participating in a glorious 35 mile walk through some of the countries most beautiful scenery, and we are inviting people to walk the final 7 miles with us. The start time from Baslow is 11.15am, we then go on a very pleasant hike through the Chatsworth Estate, Edensor village over to Bakewell before concluding our walk at Thornbridge Hall in Ashford in the Water at a special finale party. Spaces are limited and there is a registration fee of £12.50 adults including a pint of Thornbridge Ale or a glass of 'bubbly' and £5.00 for children. There will also be the opportunity to buy a souvenir T-Shirt of the day for only £5. Sponsorship is optional; however it is an ideal opportunity to raise additional funds. There are no age restrictions, however anyone taking part must be relatively fit and be able to complete the 7 miles within approximately 4 hours.

Certain areas of the walk are not suitable for prams or wheelchairs due to uneven ground and stiles etc. The majority of the walk however is following trails, on grass and tarmac. Dogs are welcome on a leash. The aim of the walk is to highlight the staggering amount of money required each year for the running of the hospice. This year a massive £2.5 million is needed with only a minimal amount being given by central government.

My own son Thomas benefits from attending Bluebell Wood and the hospice is a great support to all the family and too many other families from South Yorkshire and the North Midlands with children suffering with life threatening or life limiting illnesses.

Date: Sunday 20th June 2010.

Start time: 11.15 am prompt.

Meeting point: Baslow Village Hall (next to Nether End car park).

There are a limited number of spaces: Please contact Bluebell Wood 01909 517360 to register.
Finale Event: Thornbridge Hall, Ashford in the Water. 'Ales & Angels' (Click for Details).

The village hall will be open between 10 and 11.30am for refreshments and facilities.
We advise that you bring along your own drinks and packed lunch to avoid delays.
Cars can park in the Nether End NCP car park in Baslow and there is also some on road parking throughout the village.
A complimentary ANDREWS OF TIDESWELL coach will be available to talk walkers back to their vehicles at 7:30pm.

We look forward to seeing you!
